Description:

The OMSF was designed to be the operation, management, and maintenance centre for the planned rapid rail system to be introduced on the Island of Trinidad.

Our inspiration is Trinity symbolized in the national emblem by three mountains. Our approach reflects the “genius loci”of the place – Trinidad – its nature, virtually and literally hot climate, vibrant nature and the symbolism of the modern state of Trinidad and Tobago, as well as environmentally friendly design. Buildings are shaped in a way to comply with nature – visible especially in the design of the main train maintenance workshop and the training centre building.

The facility consists of several buildings, containing the functions of, among others, headquarters, operation control centre, train and rail line maintenance workshops, training centre, drivers, security, cleaning staff and train stabling and inspection roofed areas.

The sustainable development design applied in the design is reflected, among others, in an innovative system of double roofing using membrane structures which allow for natural ventilation of a building and therefore reduce the costs of cooling in hot climate and decrease CO2 emissions.

The depot station has been designed in the outer area of Caribbean hurricanes and in the seismic activity zone.
